Iraq's neighboring states discuss border security

KUWAIT (IRNA) -- The interior ministers of Iraq's neighboring states here on Tuesday held talks to coordinate the international campaign against terrorism.

Kuwaiti First Deputy Prime Minister Jaber al-Mubarak as-Sabah delivered the inaugural speech at the meeting.
Interior ministers of Iran, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Syria, Jordan, Egypt, and Bahrain and representatives of the United Nations and the Arab League are attending the meeting.
They are exploring ways to take coordinated action to ensure border security with Iraq and prevent cross-border operations of terrorist groups.
Kuwaiti interior minister said that the meeting focused on security cooperation among the countries in the region and coordination in the international campaign against terrorism.
He said that the Iraqi neighboring states need to closely watch the borders to stop arms and drug trafficking and share information among them including Iraq.
The Kuwaiti interior minister said that Iraq's security is tied to the security of the neighboring states and urged collective action to bolster border security with Iraq.
The interior ministers will study progress of their approvals in the past three meetings.
